CLEVELAND NATIONAL Forest OFF-ROAD ROUTE INUT

Thank you to the Warriors Society.

The Cleveland National Forest Meeting will end on Friday, August 18th.
You can read the following to learn how you can act through mail if you are unable to attend or missed any of the meetings.

In August, the Cleveland National Forest hosted open houses to gather public input about current OHV routes.

This review is intended to verify all motorized routes on Forest. It will also consider those that the public would like to be considered for designation as motor vehicle routes.

For review, inventory maps can be viewed and downloaded from this website:

The proposed changes to current route designations must conform with the Land Management Plan’s zoning. As staffing and budget permit Forest Service staff to complete the analysis, any changes to the transportation system will be gradual over time.

When submitting suggestions for route inventory, the public is requested to adhere to the Route Inventory Review Guidelines. Written comments only will be accepted on the Inventory Review sheets.

The Cleveland National Forest website will have the most current maps.

Along with the Route Inventory Review Guidelines and the Inventory Review Sheet. Anne Carey Recreation Officer, Cleveland National Forest, can be reached at 674-2977 with any questions regarding Route Designation Process. You can mail hardcopies of Route Inventory Review Sheets to:

BACKGROUND

In 2005, the Forest developed a new forest land management plan that will preserve the forest’s natural character and offer a variety of recreational opportunities for the next 10-15 year. The new Forest Plans are the basis for route designation.

The route designation process serves to protect resources by ensuring vehicles only use designated routes. The Cleveland National Forest’s primary goal will be to share and analyze routes inventories, and then make minor changes over time. The Forest will begin the process of designating routes once the inventory review has been completed. Funding and workload permitting, the Forest will continue with the process.
