New Bosch Cordless Sanders Spotted Online 11/2020

There’s a new Bosch cordless sander image that has been in circulation over on social media and other online forums. Get it? !

These appear to be the Bosch GEX12V-125, and GEX18V-125 cordless sanders we first saw referenced in Bosch parts listing and on Bosch DEs forum back in September.

Other than the fact that I found it online in multiple places with similar details, I was unable to trace the origin of the image.

  • Pneumatic sander-style geometry
  • Brushless motor
  • 125mm sanding disc
  • Variable speed
  • Battery systems for 12V and 18V

I’m all for these Bosch cordless sanders. Bosch 18V cordless saws have a low profile geometry, which is quite different from other cordless sanders currently on the market.

Heres Boschs existing 18V cordless finish sander. Although it is smaller than the majority of brands’ 18V-class 13cm random orbit sanders, the Bosch 18V circular sander has a much more ergonomic grip and stands out from the rest.

The Dewalt DCS210 cordless Sander has a brushless motor, 13 cm sanding pads, and a dust bag. It is obvious that the form factor has changed.

Bosch’s sander is unique because it has a form factor we don’t usually see on other cordless sanders.

Although the Bosch GEX18V-125 and GEX12V-125 sanders may not be as compact, they are more manageable and comfortable. It’s great to have more options.

This image shows the Bosch 18V cordless sander with a CORE18V compact 4-Ah battery.

It is interesting to note that the Bosch 12V sander is not available in many 12V-class cordless power tools systems. This tool is smaller and has a narrower grip.

Although it is not clear what effect a 12-volt-class motor or power source will have on speed and performance specs, the sander appears to have the same 13cm/125mm sanding pads as the 18V model.

Both sanders appear to have dust ports, variable speed dials and an easily accessible on/off button.

The Bosch 12V sander comes with an LED fuel gauge.

It is also worth noting that the Bosch 12V cordless drill is shown with a smaller Li-ion battery instead of a larger, higher capacity pack. It looks compact and ergonomic, thanks to this. This tool would require a lower capacity battery. It is also likely that the 12V sander will deliver slower material removal rates.

All that was going on is an image from a Bosch forum and social media. These images could be conceptual and, if so, they seem very precise and attractive. They could also be concepts, just like the Bosch cordless power tools.

There is no information as to when or if these new Bosch cordless powertools will be available in North America. We reached out to Bosch USA to inquire about North America availability. We are still waiting for their response.
